PE Leaders

On Friday 25th January the PE department had the pleasure of taking 12 dedicated leaders to officiate both the primary and secondary finals at this year’s Sainsbury’s Level 3 School Winter Games. Our students were hand selected from all of the school from South Gloucestershire and North Somerset to lead the day’s events.

Behind the scenes, these students have dedicated hours towards their leadership training and well as officiating the Level 2 Primary School events hosted at Mangotsfield School and the Secondary School events hosted here at King’s Oak Academy in their own time after school.

The day for the leaders started with them having to react to huge changes in circumstances as it was announced that adult leaders from other sports required their assistance. This entailed our students quickly having to learn the ropes when officiating sports covering indoor rowing, fencing and table tennis.

One of the highlights of the day came from the rowing where one of our students had the daunting task of delivering the results to the eager competitors! Little do they know that the gentleman on stage with them is the CEO of Sports England!!

I am pleased to say that all of our fantastic leaders went above and beyond and worked tirelessly to provide the best sporting experience for all involved, regardless of the sport they were delivering.  They are a huge credit to our school and an absolute pleasure to see them lead with such maturity.

Well done team!
